Hans Janner was possibly the best of the Great Lakes fish decoy carvers and spear makers.

A resident of Mt. Clemens, Michigan the self-proclaimed capitol of ice fishing, Janner's fish and duck decoys date from the 1930's.

His fish decoys, as reflected by the whimsiocal pieces on this deck of cards, were fancifully shaped, with extravagantly curvaceous fins and and highly fluid bodylines and are so unique and are considered the finest examples of the art. They are certainly among the most joyous representations of natural wildlife ever created by an American artist.

Oscar Peterson Playing Cards
The deck utilizes four of Peterson's most celebrated carvings. 56 Card deck features; Hellbender Decoy Decoy, 1930, Rainbow Trout Decoy, 1935, Blue Gill Decoy 1925, and a Walleye Decoy from 1936. Two informational cards and two Jokers are included in each pack

Oscar Peterson Playing Cards honor and illustrate the works of one of America's most distinctive decoy carvers.

Born of Swedish parents in 1894, Oscar Peterson was an outdoorsman who spent his youth hunting and fishing in the lower Michigan Peninsula. He eventually settled in Cadillac, Michigan and was active as a wilderness guide in the area all his life. Peterson's involvement with decoys began as a child and continued his entire life. He spent nearly fifty years carving and painting with a fluency, industry and imagination unique to the art form.
